Assessment Tools

PFR does not use formal assessment tools.



The PFR curriculum, available for purchase from the NCAST Programs, covers the following topics: elements of a healthy relationship, attachment theory and secure relationships, reflective capacity-building, development of self for infants and toddlers, challenging behaviors, strategies for working with parents/caregivers, and intervention planning. The curriculum package includes a manual, a pack of handouts for caregivers, and a DVD.


Available Languages

Social-Emotional Cards and PFR parent handouts are available in English and Spanish.


Fidelity Measurement

Using a video recording of a home visit during which the practitioner and parent review a parent-child interaction video, the practitioner is assessed on content delivery, parent engagement strategies, and the quality of the practitioner’s interaction with the family. No information on who conducts the assessment was provided.


Fidelity Standards

PFR practitioners must pass annual fidelity assessments to remain certified. No other information on fidelity standards was provided.
