The annual cost per woman was estimated to be $2,049 [2009 U.S. dollars; $2,313 in 2009 Australian dollars]. This estimate includes the resources used for training and support of referring clinicians and mentors, as well as costs associated with mentors’ support of mothers, assuming a caseload of four mothers per mentor.

Labor Costs

Mentor mothers were offered payment for each woman they were matched to other than their first match, for a maximum of two hours per week per match, at an hourly rate of approximately $26.50 [2008 US dollars; $27.55 in 2008 Australian dollars]. All women were eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses incurred for home visits.
