Implementing Minding the Baby®

Meets DHHS criteria for an evidenced based model

Estimated Costs of Implementation

Last Updated

May 2016

Average Cost per Family

MTB services cost about $10,000 to $13,200 [2016 dollars] per family per year, on average, based on preliminary estimates. Costs depend on the implementing agency’s administrative structure and geographic location.

Labor Costs

Staffing costs vary depending on the type and location of the implementing agency. National averages for master’s–level, full-time clinical salaries range from $62,000 to $84,000 across disciplines. Fringe, administrative, and supervision costs are additional budgetary considerations.

Purchase of Program Model or Operating License

There is no certification or licensing arrangement. Sites interested in replicating MTB must purchase the training and consultation program.

Materials and Forms

The fee for the training and consultation replication program includes most of the required materials and forms. Sites might have to purchase some standardized evaluation measurement tools separately.

Training and Technical Assistance

The cost of the training and consultation replication program, and additional individualized training and assistance, is determined with individual sites.

The costs of data systems to support implementation vary based on a site’s available infrastructure.

Recruitment and Retention

Costs associated with recruitment and retention of families are minimal. MTB does not use monetary incentives to promote program participation. Minimal costs are associated with giving families small gifts to mark milestones, such as a baby’s birth or birthday, or a mother’s birthday.
