Average Cost per Family

The average cost for HIPPY per child per year is $1,500 to $2,500 [all values in 2016 dollars] (subject to change). This estimate is based on services for 60 to 180 children and includes salaries for staff, fees for training and technical assistance, license and affiliation, program development, the cost of curriculum materials, and other direct costs. The cost per child may vary based on the budget requirements of individual program sites.

Purchase of Program Model or Operating License

Each HIPPY program pays an annual fee to the national office for licensing, program development, technical assistance, training, site visits, national conference registration and the web-based management information system. The fees range from $5,500 for programs with one coordinator to $8,000 for larger programs with multiple coordinators (subject to change). The annual fee for the first year of a program is $8,000 and includes start-up support and additional on-site training and technical assistance.

Materials and Forms

The cost of HIPPY curriculum materials varies by the age of the children served and the number of children served. Curriculum costs average $120 per child.

Training and Technical Assistance

The HIPPY USA national office conducts a pre-service training for all new coordinators. The fee for this training is up to $925 for the program coordinator and $600 for additional trainees from the same program (subject to change). Onsite training and technical assistance is included in the fees.

Infrastructure costs vary, depending on the implementing agency. The ETO software is free to all HIPPY program sites.
