Operations Manuals

Intervention and coding manuals are available during training.

Service Delivery Forms

Sample consent forms are available.

Assessment Tools

Program staff observe caregivers playing with their children before and after the intervention to assess caregiver change on targeted behaviors. The program development team provides trainees with feedback and coding of these assessments.

The 10 home visiting sessions follow a curriculum that addresses caregiver nurturance, following the lead of children and delighting in children's behaviors, and avoiding frightening caregiver behaviors.

Available Languages

Parent coaches are able to implement the model and be supervised in English and Spanish.

Fidelity Measurement

At the end of the supervision year, the program development team reviews trainees’ most recent sessions to evaluate their adherence and fidelity to the model for certification. For treatment adherence, a short list of specific issues from the manual must be covered for each session. For treatment fidelity, the program development team conducts a qualitative review of the parent coach’s “in the moment” feedback, in addition to the weekly monitoring and tracking of the coach’s frequency and quality of commenting.

To maintain their certification, parent coaches must demonstrate adherence to fidelity standards every two years.

Fidelity Standards

Fidelity standards are based on the frequency and quality of “in the moment” comments. Coaches are required to meet a certain rate of commenting for each session (for example, one comment per minute), as well as a certain quality (for example, comments are on target 80 percent of the time).
