The Department of Health and Human Services launched Home Visiting Evidence of Effectiveness (HomVEE) to conduct a thorough and transparent review of the home visiting research literature. HomVEE provides an assessment of the evidence of effectiveness for home visiting program models that target families with pregnant women and children from birth to kindergarten entry (that is, up through age 5). To carry out the HomVEE review, each year Mathematica Policy Research (Mathematica)1 conducts a thorough search of the research literature on home visiting. Mathematica also issues a call for studies to identify additional research, reviews the literature, assesses the quality of research studies, and evaluates the strength of evidence for specific home visiting program models.
1The review was conducted in partnership with the National Institutes of Health library during the first year of review.
